Sarah Hackfort is a Principal Consultant at the Berlin office of the Technopolis Group, where she is part of the Green Economy and Climate Policy unit. She specializes in policy and trend analysis within the bioeconomy, green economy, and agri-food systems, as well as technology assessment. Sarah’s work focuses on the implications of social and technological innovations and related public policies across various levels.
Sarah has held leadership roles in academia and research organizations, such as serving as Research Group Leader and Principal Investigator at the Department of Agricultural Economics at Humboldt University of Berlin. She was also Head of Research for Sustainability and Transformation at the IZT – Institute for Futures Studies and Technology Assessment in Berlin, Germany.
With over a decade of experience in research and consultancy, she has led and contributed to numerous international projects in Germany, Canada, Kenya, and Mexico. These projects employed a range of mixed methods, including case studies, literature reviews, focus groups, interviews, and surveys. Fluent in German, English, and Spanish, she brings a global perspective to her work.
Sarah holds a Doctoral Degree in Social Sciences and Economics from the University of Kassel. She has studied Political Sciences at Kassel University in Germany and Rutgers University in New Jersey, USA.
