Thibault De Weerdt is a consultant at Technopolis BV in Amsterdam, working on projects in international cooperation and environmental policy. He is trained as an economist and engineer, holding a\u00a0Master in Public Policy and Development\u00a0from the\u00a0Paris School of Economics\u00a0and a\u00a0Master in Business Engineering\u00a0from the\u00a0University of Antwerp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thibault has worked on topics related to\u00a0natural resource governance, environmental systems and energy policy.\u00a0In parallel to his postgraduate studies, he worked as a consultant carrying out a World-Bank commissioned study on electricity market reform, for which he analysed regulatory frameworks, developed a tariff simulation tool, modelled allowed revenues for the Chad\u2019s state utility and authored the final report with policy recommendations. He conducted research on the compatibility of technological innovation and traditional beliefs in common resource governance in Benin\u2019s coastal lakes, as a predoc researcher at the Institute of Development Policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His work is supported by strong quantitative skills in\u00a0econometrics, modelling and simulation, reflected by his previous work experience as a data scientist for a small finance consultancy in London, and as a simulation analyst for the Port of Antwerp. His master\u2019s dissertations further strengthened this technical base through a macroeconomic simulation of pandemic\u2013policy interactions and an econometric analysis of rural roads and food security in India.
