A Formative Meta-Evaluation of Seven Swedish National Research Programmes 2017-2021
Publication date: 15 November 2022 | Report language: EN
On 10 November, Erik Arnold presented a meta-evaluation of seven national research programmes run by the Swedish research councils. These are intended to help address societal challenges by identifying and funding research needed to plug knowledge gaps important for meeting the challenges.
The study shows that there are opportunities for different research funders to cooperate to broaden agendas to help deal with the societal challenges, but also that there is a strong tendency for them to fall back on existing instruments and processes, thus undermining the purpose of the whole exercise.
