The project aims to support evidence-based decision-making in the context of<strong> Germany\u2019s and the EU\u2019s ambitious climate targets<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Digital technologies<\/strong> are increasingly seen as key enablers of the <strong>energy transition<\/strong>. However, their climate impact is complex: while they offer significant potential to reduce emissions, they also come with <strong>environmental costs<\/strong> across their life cycle. To ensure that digital solutions truly contribute to climate goals, a comprehensive and transparent evaluation is essential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A holistic approach to climate impact assessment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The project will deliver:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 A <strong>comprehensive study<\/strong> providing a status quo analysis and identifying relevant use cases<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 A <strong>data model <\/strong>capable of calculating both climate benefits and costs<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 A<strong> user-friendly web application<\/strong> featuring a publicly accessible dashboard<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This integrated approach will allow stakeholders in policy, research, and industry to better understand the climate implications of digital technologies and make informed decisions about their deployment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Supporting sustainable digital transformation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>By capturing the full life cycle impacts of digital solutions, the model will help ensure that <strong>digitalisation supports<\/strong> \u2013 rather than hinders \u2013 <strong>the transition<\/strong> to a climate-neutral energy system.
