This is the interim impact evaluation of the Industrial Energy Transformation Fund (IETF), which Technopolis Ltd led alongside Ricardo for the UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The IETF was designed to support high energy-use businesses to cut energy costs and reduce emissions by investing in energy efficiency and low carbon technologies, from feasibility and engineering studies through to deployment of measures such as waste heat recovery, process efficiency improvements, electrification, heat pumps, fuel switching and other deep decarbonisation solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The interim evaluation finds emerging evidence that the programme is successful in support firms overcome financial barriers to decarbonisation and energy efficiency, through grants for capital expenditure and resource for studies, and our analysis of interim monitoring data finds that grant supported equipment is effective at achieving lower energy usage and lower carbon emissions. The report also examines other benefits including competitiveness, learning\/capability, air quality and jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Our evaluation used a mixed-method, theory-based approach, combining contribution analysis and process tracing with quantitative benefits analysis, beneficiary and stakeholder interviews, surveys, case studies, programme monitoring data and documentary review. This allowed the team to assess not only whether outcomes were emerging, but how and why the IETF was contributing to change in a complex industrial policy environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For UK industrial decarbonisation, the findings underline the importance of well-targeted public support that can de-risk investment, build organisational confidence, and accelerate the adoption of technologies that may otherwise struggle to progress to implementation due to upfront cost barriers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","solution":[250],"sector":[253,252],"class_list":["post-67074","report","type-report","status-publish","hentry","solution-evaluation-pt-pt","sector-entrepreneurship-pt-pt","sector-green-economy-pt-pt"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\n
