Technopolis Group

Over the past months, Technopolis experts on standardisation policy as well as communication instruments joined forces to support the Environmental Protection Helpdesk of the German Institute for Standardisation (DIN e.V.) and the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN). The objective of this project was to draft a brochure on the topic of standardisation and environmental protection. The brochure is targeted at the public sector in Europe and aims at raising awareness for the significance of standardisation for environmental protection. Key benefits for policy-makers regarding the monitoring of standardisation activities and the active involvement in standards committees are highlighted in the brochure, illustrating developments in focus areas such as Circular Economy, Climate Change Adaption and Sustainable Finance. For data collection and validation, Technopolis conducted an interview programme with public sector representatives from almost all EU Member States as well as a workshop in Germany with relevant stakeholders.  As a next step, the content developed by Technopolis  will be discussed on the European level and published by CEN later in 2020.
