Jérôme Treperman
Managing Partner
Jérôme Treperman is Managing Partner and Director of the Berlin office of Technopolis Group.
He has more than 10 years of experience in providing strategic advice to public sector clients in the area of research & innovation. Jérôme has successfully delivered projects for several European Commission directorates as well as ministries and agencies in Germany, France and other countries. He frequently consults public financial institutions such as the European Investment Bank, the World Bank and the KfW Group.
Jérôme supports his clients throughout the entire policy development and implementation cycle, providing strategic support for the design of policies and programmes, feasibility studies, policy analysis, monitoring as well as benchmarking and evaluation of the performance of policy programmes, public sector institutions and innovation system.
Thematically, he has a longstanding track record in government policies to support innovative startups & SMEs. Jérôme has delivered several evaluations of the German government’s key startup financing instrument High-Tech-Gründerfonds (HTGF) with close to €1bn under management. He recently completed an evaluation of the European Investment Bank’s equity and quasi-equity financing operations focusing on innovative SMEs.
In addition, Jérôme’s work focuses on international cooperation in research & innovation, with a focus on EU-India relations. He conducted a review of basic principles for effective research & innovation cooperation between the European Union and Third Countries and has served as a member of the management team of the European Commission’s Service Facility for International R&I Cooperation. In that context, he led initiatives to increase innovation cooperation between the EU, the African Union and the Government of India.
Jérôme has delivered a number of high-level projects in the areas of climate policy and digitisation. He has consulted the German government’s cross-departmental “climate cabinet” on establishing the German Climate Change Act and has subsequently helped to set up the Council of Climate Experts (ERK) to ensure the fulfilment of climate protection targets. Together with the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, he is currently delivering a BMBF research project on assessing the contribution of research & innovation policies to decarbonisation.
In collaboration with the Oxford Internet Institute, he carried out the European Commission’s DG Connect Data4Policy study of big data and other innovative data-driven approaches for evidence-informed policy making
Jérôme holds an M.Sc. in Financial Economics and Monetary Policy from the Goethe University Frankfurt and a B.Sc. in Economics from the Université de Montréal. He works in German, English, and French.
