Yasemin is a scientist by training (PhD in Nanotechnology) and has over 22 years of professional experience in Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) analysis in the academic and public sector. Drawing on her deep expertise in leading a Nanotechnology research team (20 peers) at Imperial College, Yasemin directed aspects of the operational merger processes in the banking sector (JP Morgan Chase).
In her role as advisor for science communication and innovation, Yasemin supported and lead projects focusing on new technologies in developing countries. Amongst others, Yasemin initiated and managed activities, under the Newton Fund (£735 Mio), enabling Science, Technology and Innovation collaboration between the UK and following countries: Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, Philippines, South Africa and wider Africa, Thailand, Turkey, and Vietnam. Outstanding relationship building, partnership development and income generation have been her strongest assets in this role. Moreover, Yasemin has established a strong track record in international field experience covering areas such as:
• Capacity strengthening
• Public outreach (science communication)
• Policy formulation
• Program development and management
• Evaluation of Science, Technology and Innovation projects
• Comprehensive science policy analysis in European, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and Sub-Saharan African countries.
Yasemin’s most notable roles include Head of Science and Innovation, MENA and the Gulf (British Council, Doha Qatar), Senior Science, Technology and Innovation Consultant (African Development Bank, Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire) and Partnership Coordinator within the Education, Human Capital and Employment Division of the African Development Bank and country representative (Cote d’Ivoire) as well as product owner for Groots Consulting UG.
