Andrej is a Principal Consultant with over 14 years’ experience of evaluating and providing advisory services in relation to research and innovation policy, having worked in consultancies (Technopolis Group, KPMG, Ipsos MORI) and in the public sector (UK Research and Innovation as the Senior Strategy Advisor to the CEO). 

He is a highly competent project manager of research studies and evaluations of innovation programmes including flagship programmes of UKRI and programmes under the Energy Innovation Portfolio and Net Zero Innovation Programme for the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. Since 2009, he has been involved in the design and implementation of over 90 studies, ranging from evaluations of EU Framework Programmes for Research and Technological Development for DG Research (ICT, Transport, SME instrument, Science in Society and Energy) to smaller methodological and analytical studies at national level. Andrej was the project manager of the evaluation of the Non-Domestic Smart Energy Management Innovation Competition (NDSEMIC), the Green Home Finance Innovation Fund, the scoping of the Built Environment Theme under NZIP and is currently delivering the evaluations of the Energy Entrepreneur Fund 8 and 9 and Transforming UK Food Systems programmes. Andrej advised DESNZ on the design and setup of data collection processes of EIP KPIs and then continued to support analysis and data collection of NZIP KPIs.  

Andrej has a strong track record in the management and successful delivery of research projects and evaluations.  

He has a high level of expertise in semi structured and structured qualitative data collection, quantitative and qualitative analyses of primary and secondary data and case study development. Andrej has developed study approaches and led the delivery of ex-ante, interim and ex-post evaluations of programmes in a number of policy areas.  

He holds a Masters in Technology and Innovation Management from Science and Technology Policy Research Unit (SPRU) and a BSc (Hons) in Business Management Studies, both from University of Sussex.
