Nikolas Hubel is a Senior Consultant at the Technopolis Group with more than six years of experience in scientific policy advice and applied research. His thematic expertise focuses on (future) skills, work and qualifications, particularly in the context of the digital and green transformation. Nikolas has extensive experience in the conception, implementation and management of analysis and advisory projects as well as in the preparation of targeted, policy-oriented publications.

Recently, Nikolas’s studies and consulting projects have primarily focused on the topics of skills requirements, the future of work, and innovation policy. His methodological expertise includes qualitative research approaches, strategic foresight and impact analysis as well as designing and facilitating multi-stakeholder formats. He regularly applies participatory and future-oriented methods to support evidence-based decision-making in public policy contexts.

Nikolas studied Sociology (BA) and Futures Studies (MA), focusing on technology and innovation management as well as participatory foresight methods. For his master’s thesis, he analysed the effectiveness of supporting transformation processes through Futures Thinking. He has complemented his academic background with professional training, including qualifications in coaching and moderation.

Prior to joining the Technopolis Group, Nikolas worked at the Centre for Technology and Society at TU Berlin and at the Institute for Vocational Education and Training Research (IBBF). He then held a position as a scientific advisor at the Institute for Innovation and Technology (iit) at VDI/VDE Innovation + Technology GmbH, where he advised federal ministries, subordinate authorities and other public institutions on labour, education and innovation policy. He is a native German speaker and is fluent in English and Spanish, with basic knowledge of French.
