Carlos Vergara is an analyst and data scientist at Technopolis Group UK. He has ample experience in data-intensive work, this includes data collection, cleaning, transformation, analyses, and visualisation. Part of his is background also includes Bayesian inference, mathematical modelling, regression analysis, and high-performance computing.  

At Technopolis, he has worked extensively with multiple datasets to measure and analyse technology and innovation, including the NZIP KPI database for evaluating NZIP portfolio’s performance indicators among others. He has also worked on impact and research evaluations using quantitative methods to assess programme effectiveness and outcomes of different UKRI programmes. 

Prior to joining Technopolis Group, Carlos worked as a data scientist for Recycle2Trade, a digital consultancy agency supporting novel business models in the circular economy, sustainability, and waste management sectors. During this time, he worked in a feasibility study for innovative landfill gas and leachate monitoring techniques, using Earth Observation data for the development of an online observing platform.  

Carlos holds a BSc in Physics and a MSc in Astrophysics from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, and a PhD degree in Astronomy from Sussex University. He is fluent in English, French and Spanish.
