Dr Janna Axenbeck is a Senior Consultant at the Berlin office of the Technopolis Group and an expert in digitalisation, ecological sustainability, and applied economic research. She brings many years of experience in policy consulting and combines robust methodological expertise in micro- and macroeconomic modelling with advanced skills in data science, particularly statistical data analysis, text mining, and machine learning.

Her thematic focus lies in the economics of digitalisation, innovation and sustainability policy, as well as climate and environmental economics. At the German Environment Agency (UBA), she recently led a large-scale corporate survey on digitalisation and sustainability in business practice. Here, she has also managed research and advisory projects analysing the impact of digital technologies on energy consumption, emissions, and competitiveness.

Prior to UBA, Dr Axenbeck worked at the ZEW – Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research in Mannheim, within the research department “Digital Economy”. There, she developed innovative indicators to measure digitalisation and innovation at the firm level and published her findings in renowned academic journals such as The Energy Journal, Journal of Environmental Management, andPLOS ONE. Her work is characterised by the integration of classical econometric techniques with modern data-driven approaches.

Dr Axenbeck earned her doctorate from Justus Liebig University Giessen, where she researched the role of digital technologies in shaping environmental behaviour and sustainable economic activity.
