Marc Blauert works as a Senior Consultant in the Berlin office of Technopolis Group in the Green Economy field. He is well-versed in various quantitative and qualitative research methods. This includes conducting descriptive and statistical data analyses, spatial data analyses, expert interviews, surveys, and literature research.

Marc is particularly interested in the economic assessment of climate policy instruments and their design options. His current and recent projects include a study on issues and options related to the further development of the EU ETS in the post-2030 period and an exploratory study on the use of carbon cost estimates for project and policy evaluation, both for DG CLIMA. At the national level, he is involved in an evaluation of the Directive for the Promotion of Sales for Electrically Powered Vehicles for the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) and a project on the role of R&I instruments in achieving long-term climate mitigation targets for the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

Furthermore, Marc contributes to the reports of the German government’s Council of Experts on Climate Change (Expertenrat für Klimafragen). The council annually reviews the greenhouse gas emission estimation for Germany and the sectoral policy programs that need to be issued if national targets are not met. The council also publishes regular assessments of the state of the transition towards climate neutrality in Germany.

Before joining Technopolis, Marc gained experience in applied research during his time in the Climate Policy Department at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin). There he worked on various projects related to climate policy instruments, including a project on the introduction of the EU CBAM. In addition, Marc previously worked for several years in the metals recycling industry where he was particularly involved in the statistical and descriptive analysis of material flows.

Marc holds a MSc in Integrated Natural Resource Management at Humboldt University of Berlin (Focus on Environmental and Resource Economics). He also holds a MSc in Accounting and Finance from Lund University (Sweden) and a BA in Business Administration from the Berlin School of Economics and Law. Marc is fluent in German and English.
