David Papp has gained an extensive track record in sustainable finance. Having worked in development banking on the implementation of clean energy projects, he has a hands-on experience with financing climate and sustainability impacts. David also has a central banking background: in a leadership position he was also responsible for integration of environmental sustainability aspects in the supervision of financial institutions and policy development to advance green finance market in his native Hungary. He also managed green economy research projects with partners such as the OECD and local universities. His thematic expertise includes climate & environmental risk, green finance, clean energy, energy efficiency and biodiversity, among others.

Prior to joining Technopolis Group, David worked nearly 4 years at the central bank of Hungary as advisor and subsequently as head of the sustainable finance policy department. He was managing the work of 6-8 professionals and represented the central bank in conferences and (international) events. Previously, for 5 years he was employed at the Dutch development bank, FMO, where he managed and supervised a portfolio of clean energy projects and fund investments across the globe, as well as contributed to build the bank’s internal capacities to monitor project performance. His earlier work experience includes investment analysis at a global impact investment cooperative and impact evaluations and financial behaviour research in Sub-Saharan Africa, which he carried out at a university-affiliated research group.

David has master’s degrees in business administration from Corvinus University of Budapest and Rotterdam School of Management. In addition, he holds an Economics master’s degree from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He is fluent in English, Hungarian, Dutch and has advanced knowledge of Spanish and German.
