Technopolis Africa supported the signatories of the Cocoa and Forests Initiative (CFI) in Côte d’Ivoire to develop an effective, impact-oriented M&E framework for their activities during the second phase of the Initiative, as well as an operationalisation protocol.
The project team, Abybah Traoré, Makany Touré and Francie Sadeski, conducted extensive consultations and workshops with key stakeholders, including IDH The Sustainable Trade Initiative, World Cocoa Foundation, REDD+, ministries, the private sector and civil society organisations.
The CFI is the first and largest sector-wide public-private partnership in the cocoa industry, implemented by Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana (~60% of the world’s cocoa producing countries), and ultimately aims to reduce deforestation in line with the latest international regulations on deforestation-free products (e.g. EUDR).
