On November 28th, more than 340 in-person participants, including S3 practitioners, experts, policymakers, and key stakeholders from across various European regions, gathered at Barcelona’s historic venue La Llotja de Mar as the European Commission, in collaboration with the Generalitat de Catalunya and the S3 CoP Secretariat, orchestrated the S3 Forum.
This event marked a significant milestone. The S3 Forum 2023 has been the first in-person EU-level gathering on Smart Specialisation Strategies (S3) since the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak in 2020. This Forum provided an invaluable platform for networking, discussions on S3 implementation, and the exchange of insights and best practices, addressing both the strategic and regulatory aspects of S3 policy making.
Launch of the S3 CoP Observatory
During this event, an exciting announcement was made: the launch of the S3 Observatory, which has been built in collaboration among DG REGIO G1, DG REGIO country-desks and the S3CoP Secretariat. Technopolis Group, along with S3Cop Partners, has leveraged the power of generative AI to build a central database of information for S3 across the European Union.
