Alex Holmes is a Policy Consultant working in the Science, Technology and Innovation team at Technopolis UK. Alex has developed expertise in public policy analysis and evaluation through contributions to projects for international, European and national public bodies. With a primarily quantitative skillset, Alex has extensive experience in techniques such as cost-benefit and Value for Money (VfM) assessments of public investment projects.
Recently Alex has been involved with an assessment of the AI adoption of UK businesses for the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT). He has contributed to the analysis of survey data in an evaluation of the National Centre for Behavioural Research (NCBR) for the ESRC, along with compiling UKSPF case studies. In the past, Alex has been involved with European/International projects. In particular, European Commission funded projects as part of the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) programme in the Western Balkans and Turkey.
Prior to joining Technopolis, Alex worked for Transparency International Macedonia in Skopje, North Macedonia. Here, he managed the development of a VfM analysis assessing a range of development projects within the country. During this time, Alex gained expertise in delivering technical advice to senior policy makers and politicians.
Alex obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Econometrics from the University of Bristol, before going on to complete a Master of Research (MRes) in Economics at the same institution.
