Lennart Stoy joined Technopolis Brussels in January 2023. He is an expert on European research and innovation policy, with a focus on open science and higher education institutions. He has worked on EU R&I policy for a large umbrella organisation of universities and has experience in projects funded by FP7, H2020, and Horizon Europe.
Lennart has experience with projects addressing the role of universities in the European R&I ecosystem. He was a lead on open science for the EUTOPIA University Alliance, a work package lead in the FAIRsFAIR (Fostering FAIR data culture in Europe) project, and manager of the UNI-SET (Universities in the SET-Plan) project. He contributed to policy work and studies of the European University Association in the context the European Research Area and the modernisation agenda for Higher Education.
Prior to joining Technopolis Group, Lennart worked for the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) as open science project leader and secretary of the open science office. During this time, he led the work of the EUTOPIA European University in the area of open science. Previously, Lennart worked at the European University Association from 2014 until 2021. He was responsible for dossiers inluding research data management, open access publishing, research infrastructures and prepared the associations internal work on research collaboration with China.
Lennart holds a Bachelor’s degree in East Asian Politics and Economics (Chinese) from Ruhr University Bochum, Germany, and a Master’s in Political Science from Leiden University. He is fluent in German, English, and Dutch and has advanced knowledge in Chinese and French.
