Julian Schaper works as an analyst with a focus on Green Economy and Climate Policy in the Berlin office of the Technopolis group. He is experienced in a wide range of quantitative research methods, which includes statistical data analyses, demand system estimation and modelling distributional effects.

Julian is particularly interested in the design and assessment of climate policies, such as their impact on emission abatement, their economic efficiency and their effect on the distribution of income. He is also interested in how to win public approval for climate policies. Julian is involved in the evaluation of the Directive for the Promotion of Sales for Electrically Powered Vehicles for the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK).

Prior to joining Technopolis Group, Julian worked at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), where he conducted quantitative research on the emission and distributional effects of a CO2e-tax on agricultural goods in Germany. During his studies, he also worked as a student research assistant at the Climate Policy Department of the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW) and at the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA), where he gained experience with a broad variety of quantitative and qualitative research methods.

Julian studied Economics at Freie Universität Berlin for his BSc and MSc. He is fluent in German and English and has basic knowledge in Spanish and French.
